Marissa Mayer is currently the cofounder of Lumi Labs, a technology studio focused on the intersection of consumer media and artificial intelligence. Previously, Marissa served as CEO & President of Yahoo. At Yahoo, she led a full-scale transformation of the company: rejuvenating its culture; hiring more than 5,000 people; growing users to more than 1 billion people worldwide with over 600 million users on mobile; and transforming Yahoo’s business by introducing new advertising offerings for mobile, video, native, and social that quickly grew into a multi-billion dollar business. During her tenure, she also oversaw nearly 50 acquisitions, the creation of more than $40 billion of shareholder value, and the successful sale of Yahoo’s operating business to Verizon.
Prior to Yahoo, Marissa spent 13 years at Google, where she joined as the twentieth employee and first woman engineer. For more than a decade, she played an instrumental role leading the product management effort for Google Search as well as Google Maps, Google News, and other consumer products. Previously, Marissa worked at the UBS research lab in Zurich, Switzerland, and at SRI International in Menlo Park, California. She graduated with honors from Stanford University with a BS in Symbolic Systems and a MS in Computer Science, with a specialization in artificial intelligence.
Marissa is a member of the board of directors of Walmart. She is also member of the board of trustees for the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the San Francisco Ballet.
